My name is Litzy Santos, I am 14 years old. I would describe myself as being nice, amazing, and always smiling person. I received my heart transplant June 10, 2019. It was scary when the doctors told me I needed a heart transplant. A virus went inside my heart, which caused damaged and I had to be in the hospital because of heart failure. It made me feel sad, and there was a point I started crying and thought that I wouldn’t be a normal person, doing a lot of the things I use to do. The support of nurses, Child Life, and my parents and family have helped me. During my hospital stay, Child Life would always bring me things to distract me from thinking negative. I had so much fun crafting and doing other things. I would tell others that it may be hard thing to go through but stay strong, you’ll make it. Do what your doctors tell you to do and be positive. My experience while being in the hospital is that no matter what always stay strong and positive.
