Supporting Patients Who Identify as Transgender Within the Health Care Setting (2017)

Youth who identify as transgender have become more visible in recent years. Health care professionals receive little education regarding the health care needs of this patient population. Participants of this webinar will receive information related to the unique health care needs and concerns of youth who identify as transgender. Discussion will include the diagnosis of gender dysphoria and treatment options available for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria. Child life support strategies and interventions that can be utilized with this patient population will be discussed. Information will also be provided regarding strategies that can be used to advocate for compassionate health care for youth who identify as transgender, and resources that are available to support this patient population will be discussed.
