Providing students with excellent supervision is critical to advancing the child life profession. Whether you are preparing to supervise your first intern, or you have been supervising for years, building and advancing your supervision skill set is an imperative part of your professional journey. This course is composed of 6 modules over 6 weeks. The modules are a mix of independent and live learning components. Those who successfully complete the course will earn 7.5 PDUs (Suggested Domain: Professional Responsibility) and a digital badge in recognition of Supervisory Excellence. Once purchased, no refunds will be provided. Please verify your availability for the 3 live section meetings (listed below) before purchasing the course.

Live section meetings will occur on the following dates/times (Please note these times are in Eastern Time).
If you cannot attend all three sessions live, do not register for this cohort.

Course Objectives and Goals:
- Build a community of clinical supervisors to enhance the confidence of emerging professionals in the child life field.
- Create a standard curriculum and resources for clinical supervisors to develop effective child life internships.
- Create an accessible platform for emerging clinical supervisors in the child life field through an interactive synchronous learning environment.

Stephanie Whitten, MS, CCLS (Moderator)
The University of Alabama
Stephanie Whitten is an Instructor of Child Life at the University of Alabama, where she teaches child life and child development courses. She earned her master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Alabama. Stephanie has been a Certified Child Life Specialist since 2013 and built much of her clinical career at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, specializing in oncology and neurology/neurosurgery. Her passion for supporting students began during her time as an intern supervisor, where she discovered the deep fulfillment that comes from mentoring emerging professionals in the field. With over a decade of experience teaching, supervising, and mentoring child life students, she remains committed to sharing her knowledge and passion for the field through both academic and professional roles.
Emily Mozena (Moderator)
PhD, CCLS, CTRS
Emily Mozena is a Professor of Instruction at The University of Iowa, teaching several courses at the undergraduate and graduate level each semester and is the program director for the B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation and the M.S. in Health & Human Physiology with a sub-Track Child Life and also serves at the Director of Graduate Studies. Emily Mozena has a doctoral degree in Educational Psychology and Learning Sciences and a master's degree in Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. She is dually certified in Therapeutic Recreation (CTRS) and Child Life (CCLS), with an additional training with the Registered Wonders and Worries Provider (RWWP) program. Emily was a senior child life specialist at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital for 7 years and then began teaching, and now has been teaching for over 19 years at the University of Iowa. Her research interests are in school re-entry for children with chronic illness and extended hospitalization and with children and adolescents and their coping and resiliency when their parent is diagnosed with cancer. She has two daughters, two dogs, and one husband, and lives in Iowa City.
Megan Fisher (Moderator)
BS, CCLS
Megan has been a Certified Child Life Specialist since 2003. She received her bachelor's degree in Child and Family Studies from Baylor University. Megan is now the Child Life Educator at Children's Hospital Colorado, which includes serving as the internship coordinator. Prior to her work as the Child Life Educator, Megan worked directly with patients in outpatient cardiology, surgical services, inpatient post-surgical unit as well as the Emergency Department. Megan has been an active member with the ACLP, having served on various committees and is currently serving as the CLCC Secretary. Megan also serves as the Mountain West Child Life Association President. Megan lives in Denver with her husband and two boys.
