Not Just Sick Kids: Providing Care to Children in Hospitals with Complex Social Needs - (2025)

Includes a Live Web Event on 10/14/2025 at 1:00 PM (EDT)

This webinar explores how Certified Child Life Specialists (CCLS) can address the developmental and social needs of children awaiting new living situations. Learn strategies to advocate for these patients and create a safe, supportive environment during their transition.
Suggested Domain: Assessment; Intervention
Credits:1.0 PDU
Learning Objective(s):
1. By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to begin understanding some of the unique needs that these “social hold” children have in the hospital by reviewing case examples that outline the needs of these patients and the difficulties that arise when trying to meet their needs.
2. By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to recognize the aspect of grief and loss that these children are experiencing. Through education about grief as a feeling associated with a loss, this author will highlight the psychosocial needs these children are facing and how we can help.
3. By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to gain insight on interventions to utilize with this pediatric population. Participants will view examples that have and have not worked and discuss the trials that come with creating interventions for a unique population.

Please note: All webinar content and its certificate will expire on October 14, 2028, regardless of when it is purchased, accessed, or completed. At that point, contents will no longer be available in any form, including as an archive or as a PDU certificate. It is the responsibility of the learner to complete the contents and download and save the certificate for their records prior to October 14, 2028.
