What do you mean we are closing the playroom? Solutions for programming during COVID-19

This webinar will discuss tactics and virtual programming ideas created by the entire team at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital – Mission Bay. We will share our ideas, what worked and didn’t work in regards to virtual programming and socialization opportunities for patients and families during COVID 19.

Suggested Domain:  Intervention

• Participants will learn the history of BCH-SF virtual programs in order to understand the significance of integrating new models programming to support patients during COVID 19
• Participants will increase the understanding of virtual programming to help promote patient and family satisfaction in the healthcare setting.
• Participants will develop tools and techniques to create virtual programming within a multi-disciplinary team.

Kristen Beckler, M.Ed, CTRS

Kristen Beckler, M.Ed, CTRS, CCLS Kristen received a BS degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Education focusing on Recreation Therapy and her M.Ed from the University of Missouri in Information Science and Learning Technologies. She has been a dually certified CCLS and CTRS for over 20 years, spending a majority of her career at Stanford Children’s Health, covering Oncology/ Stem Cell Transplant, Cardiac Surgery/ Transplant and the Pediatric Emergency Department. Kristen is currently a CLS III at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco covering PICU, the student program and during the last few months is the acting media coordinator for the increased broadcasts. On the side, Kristen is the Communications Manager for Child Life United and teaches online Child Life courses at UC Santa Barbara and at Eastern Washington University.

Jennifer Goldhammer, MA, MT-BC, CCLS

Jennifer Goldhammer, MA, MT-BC Jenny received her M.A. in music therapy from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her clinical internship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she supported children from infancy through adolescence during their hospital experience. After graduate school, she worked for three years in the greater Philadelphia area in both school and in camp settings as well as in an outpatient private practice. Jenny has worked at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital for the past three years and covers the intensive care, transitional care, and medical/surgical units. She enjoys incorporating play, storytelling, music, and technology into her work.
